Lavender Herb Bath Salts

Aren’t these bath salts lovely looking? With their green color, they are so fresh and vibrant! I had this idea several weeks ago after picking fresh herbs from our garden. I absolutely love the mixed scent of mint, sage, basil, and rosemary. The addition of lavender just makes everything better! After mixing these all up together, it feels like you’re walking through the herb garden. Who’s ready to jump in the tub?

These bath salts are made with fresh green herbs rather than dried. Did you know that the leaves of the lavender plant are just as fragrant as the flowers? The leaves are the less popular option to use for home remedies and cooking, but they can be used and dried just the same as any other herb such as rosemary or thyme. Lavender has many health benefits such as improving sleep, lowering stress levels, natural pain remedy, treats skin blemishes, and relaxes the body. You’ll love putting these incredibly scented salts into your next bath!

what you’ll need:

  • 1 half-pint Ball® Jar

  • 3/4 cup fresh herbs of choice (mint, rosemary, sage, thyme)

how to make:

  • In a food processor, blend the epsom salts and fresh herbs together.

  • Spread the salt mixture on a piece of wax paper and allow to air dry for 1-2 days. Crumble and place in a Ball® jar; this mix is good for one half-pint jar.

  • Mix in 10-20 drops lavender essential oil.

  • Seal off the lid and store in a cool, dry place. Make sure everything is well dried out for maximum storage time, several months. If there is still moisture in the herbs and salts, it will mold. To do this, simply lay out on a piece of parchment paper for a few days, turning every now and then, to completely dry out.

  • To use: add 1 few tablespoons of the mixture to your bath water when full and gently mix in with your hands. If you don’t want to clean up herby bits after your soak, place the salts into a small muslin bag before adding to the water.
